Distance Education
Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing has been approved to participate in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA). The College joined NC-SARA in 2015. The State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (SARA) allows the College to provide online education to residents of all states except California.
Professional Licensure Disclosure
The SARA manual has specific requirements regarding student notifications for licensure programs:
SARA has no effect on state professional licensing requirements. Any institution approved to participate in SARA that offers courses or programs designed to lead to professional licensure or certification or advertised as leading to licensure must satisfy all federal requirements for disclosures regarding such professional licensure programs under §34 C.F.R. 668.43(b). For SARA purposes, these requirements will also apply to non-Title IV institutions.
For SARA purposes, institutions that are unable, after all reasonable efforts, to determine whether a program will meet state professional licensure requirements shall provide the student or applicant with current contact information for any applicable licensing boards and advise the student or applicant to determine whether the program meets requirements for licensure in the state where the student is located.
The NC-SARA has created a tool to assist schools in this effort.
The information on licensure by state or U.S. territory can be found on the Licensure page.
Student Complaint Procedure
In accordance with §34 C.F.R. 668.43(b), the College desires to resolve student grievances, complaints, and concerns in an expeditious, fair, and amicable manner.
Institutional complaint process
Students enrolled in distance education courses or programs who reside outside the state of Missouri should first follow the College’s internal complaint process. The College is committed to resolving student concerns fairly and promptly. Students are encouraged to submit complaints or feedback directly to the College using the official complaints, concerns, and feedback policy process.
Student complaints, concerns, and feedback policy
The complaint process applies to all students, including those enrolled in distance education courses offered under SARA.
SARA complaint resolution process
If a complaint related to distance education is not resolved through the College’s internal process, students may escalate it through the applicable state and SARA processes. Please visit the SARA Student Complaints Process Information by State page for more information about the complaints process.
Students should note that the SARA complaint processes apply only to concerns related to distance education authorization, and do not replace other institutional, accreditation, or legal remedies.
