Frequently asked questions
We offer three prelicensure nursing program options: Accelerated, Upper Division, and a Weekend Evening Option. Each program has prerequisite courses that must be completed before an applicant can enroll in our school.
We also offer several post-licensure programs including an RN to BSN program for registered nurses looking to get their bachelor’s degree, and graduate programs for BSN-prepared nurses looking to obtain their MSN, DNP, or PhD degree.
The program you apply for will depend on your previous education history and the amount of time you're able to commit.
For specific guidance, we recommend reaching out to our enrollment specialists to talk through your options.
We admit three times each year with classes starting in January (spring), May (summer), and September (fall). However, not all programs are offered every term, so we recommend contacting an enrollment specialist or viewing individual program pages for term start dates.
Applicants who wish to audit a course(s) must complete an application. Approval from the appropriate academic dean must be obtained prior to acceptance in audit status. These students are not eligible for federal or state financial aid funds. Tuition will be charged for auditing a course.
All prerequisites must be completed prior to your program start date. You could potentially receive a conditional offer of admittance with four or fewer remaining prerequisites to complete, as long as all other admission criteria has been met.
If you are currently taking prerequisites, please work with our admissions team to review your anticipated completion dates. Final official transcripts showing successful completion of prerequisite courses must be submitted for full admission.
Applicants must have taken Anatomy and Physiology I and II with Labs, and Microbiology with Lab, within the past five years for the Accelerated, Upper Division, and Weekend Evening BSN programs. You’re not allowed to have taken any of the core prerequisite classes more than twice in the past five years.
There is no a time limit for the remaining prerequisite courses.
Any previously approved transfer course equivalencies can be found using the Transfer Evaluation System.
If you do not see your course listed, you can email us at [email protected] to request a transfer course articulation. Transfer credit must be approved prior to the start of the term.
To provide the most accurate and comprehensive review, transcripts are evaluated as part of a completed application with all required materials. In the meantime, if you have questions about your coursework or prerequisites, our admissions team is happy to help! Connect with an admissions advisor for personalized guidance as you prepare to apply.
Processing time may vary on depending on the volume of applications and the time of the year. If you have completed your application and are waiting on a decision, please feel free to reach out to our admission team for assistance.
You should apply for the next term your program is offered after your prerequisites have been completed. If you are a BJC HealthCare employee and planning on using tuition reimbursement, starting in the summer or fall will better maximize the tuition reimbursement amount. Some programs are not offered every term. Your application should be started at least a term prior to the program's start date.
If you have already completed some nursing courses, you can submit the "Transfer Credit Form" within the optional form section of your application portal. Up to nine credit hours can be approved. Clinical courses cannot be transferred.
Please see our Transfer Guide page for more information.
Scholarship applications open a term prior to your intended program start term. A minimum of conditional acceptance is required to qualify for scholarships.
The BJC Full Ride Scholars program and our other institutional scholarships have separate application forms that need to be filled out and submitted. You will not be considered for a scholarship without submitting the required applications. Please see our scholarships page for more information.
Please refer to your program page for the prerequisite course requirements associated with the program you are applying for.
We accept every course from StraighterLine except for:
- Anatomy and Physiology I with lab
- Anatomy and Physiology II with lab
- Microbiology with lab
To confirm how credit transfers, please reference the Transfer Evaluation System. If there is a course not listed, contact admissions with the school and course code for evaluation.
Applicants should apply to Goldfarb when they have fewer than four courses to complete.
We encourage applicants to apply as soon as the application opens. Applying early allows our admissions team to review your materials, answer questions, and help you plan for a successful start in the program.
As you consider when to apply, be mindful of your remaining prerequisite coursework. If you still have several prerequisites to complete—particularly four or more courses—you should plan your application timeline carefully to ensure you have enough time to finish those courses before the start of your intended term.
Yes. Our Weekend Evening Option BSN offers weekday evening classes with clinical placement usually on weekends. Clinical placement schedules depend on health care partner availability so will occasionally fall outside of the weekend.
Our prelicensure BSN program length depends on the option you choose:
- Accelerated BSN: A rigorous 12-month program held throughout the week during daytime hours
- Upper Division BSN: A 20-month program held throughout the week during daytime hours
- Weekend Evening BSN Option: A 36-month program with classes held in the evenings and on weekends
Conditional acceptance means you have been offered admission, but your enrollment depends on the successful completion of the required prerequisite courses. These requirements include meeting the minimum GPA and submitting final official transcripts from each institution where you have earned college course credit.
