Our Doctoral Degree Concentrations and Options
The Doctoral Degree concentrations at Barnes-Jewish College Goldfarb School of Nursing are created for registered nurses who have earned their BSN and are interested in pursuing advanced leadership roles in nursing practice and research positions in academia, as well as in the research departments of leading health institutions and hospitals.
The Doctor of Nursing practice has six concentrations: Nurse Anesthesia, Health Systems Executive Nurse Leadership, Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner, Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Postgraduate DNP.
Goldfarb's Nurse Anesthesia program is ranked #11 "Best Nursing-Anesthesia School 2024" by U.S. News & World Report!
Goldfarb's PhD Program is offered in collaboration with Washington University where students choose their interests with faculty mentors.
Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AGACNP)
Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioners (AGACNPs) provide care for adult and geriatric patients experiencing acute, critical or complex chronic health conditions in diverse healthcare settings.
Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner (AGPCNP)
The Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioners (AGPCNPs) provide care for adults as well as diagnose, treat and manage adults with acute and chronic conditions in appropriate primary care settings
DNP - Nurse Anesthesia (CRNA)
The Nurse Anesthesia Program awards a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree with a Concentration in Nurse Anesthesia
Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP)
The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Doctor of Nursing Science Program (DNP) program focuses on skills and competencies to provide primary care in the community to patients across the lifespan.
Health Systems Executive Nurse Leadership
The Health Systems Executive Leadership DNP curriculum focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to lead complex clinical environments.
PhD: Nursing Science
Graduates are well prepared for research positions in academia as well as in the research departments of leading health institutions.
Postgraduate DNP
Graduates will be able to provide quality health care to patients, families and communities by assuming a leadership role in the health care system. In addition to proposing, implementing and evaluating evidence-based changes, you’ll earn the professional standing of other health care providers with doctoral training.
Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Students are prepared to be effective advanced practice providers equipped to prescribe psychotropic medications and deliver psychotherapy.
